Photos of Sanqu Stone Forest

Sanqu Stone Forest is in Huibu Town, Changshan County. The scenic area is characterized by karst limestone landforms. The karst landscape of Sanqu Stone Forest is in its infancy, mainly composed of peak clusters with the clint and karst caves as the microtopography. At the same time, it is a huge ancient reef dating from the late Ordovician period, which is an important area in the South of China for studying the history of the Paleozoic Period. The karst landforms have produced a unique maze of the stone forest. Owing to geological evolution, the stone forests in the shapes of castles and patios appeared. Small karst depressions in ancient mountains and other landscapes were also formed.
