The city archive of Amsterdam is located in the beautiful former Bank building “De Bazel” named after its architect Karel Bazel was build between 1919 en 1926 fot the “Nederlandsche Handelmaatschappij”(Dutch Trading Company). De BaZel is a national monument, the style of architecture is Art Deco and a theosophical message is what the architect Karel Bazel wanted to convey.Beside the extensive archive, which is freely accessible, there is a coffee bar, a bookstore with work about the city of Amsterdam.
