The origins of the word Leizhou are varied. But the name was first used in Tang Zhenguan's year when Chen Wenyu, a son of Leizhou, was a local (before the name was changed to Haikang County) stabbing history. Chen Wenyu, who is acquainted with the rule of the ruler, is compassionate to the people, and has been admired by the people of all ethnic groups in the jurisdiction, is thus worshipped as "Lei Zu" in the future. Lei Zuxuan, built to commemorate this good official and the “Leizhou for drums” that often played here, called the “four in the world” for Feng Menglong in the Ming Dynasty has also become the most representative cultural symbol of “Leizhou culture”.
