The archaeological site of Sabratha is an excavated Numidian and later Roman city situed near present-day Sabratha, Libya 🇱🇾 AND IS BREATHTAKING! Facts about the site: - The most important monument of the site is the great Roman theater, located in the east area. The date of construction is not certain, it is believed to have been built in the 2nd century.- It is estimated that around 5,000 people could find room on its 11 circular steps. - Sabratha supplied Rome with many of its most exotic animals and commodities via a direct trade route to the interior of Africa to the Oasis of the Ghadames, a skillful tribe of hunters and artisans, and Rome rewarded the city with increasing development in the form of a theater, amphitheater, temples, and monuments throughout the 2nd and 3rd centuries. - The site is considered the best-preserved outside of Italy. - It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1982 ❤️#sabratha #romanruins #history #libya #libia #northafrica #unexpected ‎#ليبيا
