Asia Camera Museum Review

What a great little museum! It is tiny, but packed with cameras and gadgets from the past. Our guide was super passionate about cameras and answered all of our questions wonderfully. I have never considered myself a camera enthusiast, honestly we were looking to get out of the blazing sun, but this place sparked my interest.

It was the Penang Camera Museum found on the way to Mural Street. On the second floor of a dessert shop. Tickets 20 Malaysian ringgit. When I went, a group of black tourists came out and greeted me. The museum is not big, but the staff girl, from the history of the world's first camera, gradually explained to me the cameras of each period, including how to use them, and the camera parts that their boss opened, the service is very good. If it weren't for professionals, I really don't know so much, by the way, there were ring cameras used by spies during World War II, earrings, flashlights, etc., all photographed!

It is divided into four parts: photography exhibition hall, sales department, cafe, Camera Exhibition hall. The downstairs are free to open. The upstairs exhibition hall needs to buy tickets and is equipped with commentary. There are many precious cameras.

If you’re into cameras and the history of photography then this is the place for you. While it’s not a huge place, it is definitely well worth the visit as the admission fee will get you a personal tour from the staff who are passionate about their craft and history of photography in Penang.
