Governor's Square was founded in the 17th century and became known in 1850. In 1866, a statue of the first Croatian Governor, Jerachic, was erected in the centre of the square. After World War II, the square was renamed Republic Square. After Croatian independence in 1991, its original name was restored. Plaza area is not large, surrounding hotels, banks, cafes, etc., business atmosphere is very strong. Not far away is the city fair, where trams lead. As the square of the capital, large gatherings are held here. This is also a place where tourists must come to take photos.
