The Savior Cathedral (Russian: Храм Христа Спасителя) is located in Moscow, the world's tallest Orthodox church and one of the largest Orthodox churches. The church was built after the Napoleonic Wars, ordered by Tsar Alexander I on December 25, 1812, to thank Christ the savior for “saving Russia from defeat and avoiding shame” and to commemorate the Russian people who died in the war.
