First and foremost - don't underestimate this hike. It's just a hike much better. The last place you're going to be in a steep gradient and climb over/root rocks and you need to use the corresponding hands and feet. Really untouchable nature, but because people walk in its paths are visible to all. It is not paved or marked but easy to follow. There is a big lake on the top floor, but that tells you too. Really not too much. We didn’t go swimming because driving us crazy insects and bed bugs. On the way back we focused on getting some great environment and views of Arenal volcano. In short we were always in about 5 hours. You want to do this early and be sure to avoid this place at night for bed bugs, snakes, etc. Highly recommend this hike for the sake of hiking, not particularly much of the top lake. We will definitely feel our muscles for the next two days, but it is worth it. :)
