The church of Assisi St. Francis is located in Valletta, Malta's capital. It was built in 1598 and completed in 1607. It was rebuilt in 1681 due to structural defects. The church was expanded after 1920, and it also included a dome. The church contains a collection of valuable artworks including paintings by Mattia Pretti, Pietro Gagliardi and Filippo Paladin, as well as the nominal St. Francis statue. The church building is listed on the Maltese Islands' National List of Cultural Property.
