Guzhi Tunnel, like an underground village, is one of the three major relics of Ho Chi Minh City. It's about sixty-five kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City. During the Vietnam War, it was the underground headquarters of the 25th Division of the Vietnamese Army, like an underground village. The ruins of Guzhi Tunnel are now preserved in two areas: Binhai Tunnel in Fumeixing Township, Guzhi County, 70 kilometers northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, and Binhting Tunnel in Runli Township, Guzhi County. Because the soil in Guzhi is very hard, the local people have come up with a way to dig tunnels as a way of concealment. Guzhi Tunnel began to be excavated in the 1940s during the Anti-French War. It expanded dramatically in the Vietnam War, totaling 250 kilometers, and became a fully functional underground city. The tunnel is divided into three layers, with the lowest depth up to 8 meters. There are wells, granaries, conference rooms and dormitories in the tunnel, just like a big barracks. But when you crawl down narrow passages, you will understand that underground life is not as comfortable as you imagined. Only under the pressure of cruel war can people choose this way of life.



Discover underground village at Cu chi tunnels. Visitors will find it hard to imagine the destruction, damage & defoliation over this whole area, caused by bombing and mines. Cu Chi Tunnels are located around ~ 1.5 h from the center of HCM. We did the tour on the same day with the Mekong River Delta and was a very nice combination. Try the shooting and go inside the tunnel, an amazing experience.

Best excursion from Ho Chi Minh, recommend taking tours over trying to go there by yourself. The area can be covered under an hour and guides really explain each area clearly. Tunnels aren't suitable for the elderly or the plus size. Shooting Range costs are per clip and an AK 47 for instance is 600k minimum but one clip can be shared amongst two people. Must visit!
