Daydream Island is a small island in Queensland's Holy Spirit Islands, 1,000 meters long and 400 meters wide, just 51 meters above sea level, and the island is covered by dense rainforest. Daydream Island's name is derived from a yacht called Daydream on the island since 1881. The name Daydream Island became popular in 1930. The island has a unique outdoor aquarium with magical marine life from the Great Barrier Reef, about 80 marine species and 50 colorful corals. Daydream Island is also a charming island surrounded by mermaid fairy tales, in the northeastern corner of the island you will find three life-size mermaid statues. It is also one of the closest islands to the Australian mainland in the Holy Spirit Islands, and it takes only about 30 minutes by boat from Elli Beach. The island is proud to have built one of the world’s largest artificial living coral reefs and a top-notch luxury spa salon with more than a dozen sea-view rooms. In 2015, China Gold Investment (Group) Co., Ltd. from Shanghai, China, bought the prestigious Daydream Island Resort for $30 million.
