If you want a hike with gorgeous breathtaking views of LA then this is it!Thanks to my friend who did some research this past weekend, I went on one of the most beautiful hikes ever. The best part was that the storm had just passed and so the sky was clear and the view of downtown LA was breathtaking!Parking is easy and free, you have to drive into the park and once you arrive at the end there's a parking lot right in front of the hiking path.Once you start hiking, there's an immediate uphill climb which can seem daunting but its completely worth it! There's numerous benches along the hike so you can take breaks and relax to take in the gorgeous views. There's also a fish pond in the middle of the park that's quite beautiful and scenic to take photos of.Overall the hike is about 5 miles roundtrip but there's various paths so you can always wander off and explore different areas of the park.

We enjoy coming here because it's not too difficult to hike the wide fire roads. It's a popular park but never ever crowded where you can't find a parking spot. Our reward is viewing the turtles and fish in the small lake on top of the hill. Some hikers will bring their dogs which seem to enjoy the lake also by jumping in.

The view from the top! Sitting by a lake, looking at downtown watching the locals fish. This is our go to hike at least once a week.

This is a beautiful park in the heart of Highland Park. Lots of greenery, a kids play area, and across the way is the Via Marisol hike. A moderate hike with beautiful views of the city and a gorgeous lake at the top once you summit. The trail isn't clearly marked which makes it sparsely populated and a great hike to go on if you need some time to yourself, enjoying the expansive views. With a park on one side and a great hike on the other, you'll find your stillness and forget that you're in the middle of the bustling city.

Wow! This park is not only huge, there's plenty of parking and they have coal grills available. You can make a reservation online or by phone to ensure a picnic table area. Many of the picnic areas have shade so no need to bring an ez-up.
