Interesting museum of film with a nice restuarant with a great view. Worth a visit.

    4/5Excellent

Right opposite Central Station, the glorious EYE Film Institute – a free, short ferry ride away – hosts standout exhibitions and has the best waterfront terrace in town.

This museum is great if you have the iamsterdam pass. The admission is then only $3 euro per person. Otherwise, I am honestly not sure it's worth it. The Scorsese exhibit (temporary) was great for my partner who enjoys his work. But, the feature exhibit and main exhibit are not enough to warrant such a high ticket price. I do like the interactive exhibits. Good idea for kids. There is a restaurant attached with amazing views (not included in the review because it's not a part of the museum and we didn't go there).

    2/5Bad

Underwhelmed is probably the best way to describe my feelings about EYE. I'd heard so much about it and was really looking forward to seeing their permanent collection. I guess I had expected more than just a room of movie clips and mini-personal movie theatres. The room of movie clips is categorized by theme such as "Conflict" and "Colour". The movie theatre pods allow you to watch full movies from their catalog, which granted isn't very large, but includes several classics. I also went to the temporary Fellini exhibit since I have a discount with my Museumkaart. It was well put together all around, but I realized besides La Dolce Vita, I just don't like Fellini. All in all, I really would not go out of my way to visit unless you're a huge film buff or there's a specific exhibit on.
