Il Porcellino, first of all, is a copy of the original statue, sculpted in the early seventeenth century by the great artist, Tacca. The original is in the Bardino Museum. The copy is currently displayed in the Mercato Nuovo, and it is an Florentine legend that rubbing the wild boars snout will bring good luck.
