This is the most famous historical landmark in Tainan, drawing tones of tourists from mainland China and Taiwanese from other cities. Chihkan Tower is a remnant when the Dutch colonised the island. The original building was destroyed in an earthquake, and rebuilt in the 19th century to its current look. Most visitors come to marvel at its graceful architecture. It's not a must-see sight but it's worth a visit to understand the history of the island. It looks nicer at night when it's all lit up.
