Testament to the cultural vandalism which has taken place in Honolulu during the past 80 or so years. Established in 1927 and, astonishingly, billing itself as Hawaii's 'only' general art museum, this colonial style building contains more than 34,000 pieces of Western and Asian art, though the building isn't large enough to display them all concurrently. Largely through some magnanimous acts of philanthropists, the museum remains open and is also extending its reach to preserving some of the Oahu's morre remarkable architectural landmarks. An oasis of achievement stuck within an island (on an island) of terrible trash.
