Cambodia's Phnom Penh Independence Square, also known as Modika Square, is located in the center of the city not far from the Phnom Penh Palace, which is accessible on foot. The square is not big, but it is well-planned and vigorous. It has green lawns, spacious and clean roads and beautiful surroundings. Near Independence Square are many luxury villas of senior Cambodian officials, including Prime Minister Hun Sen's residence. In the center of the square is an independent monument to a seven-storey tower with unique features. Responding to the Independent Memorial is the bronze statue monument of Sihanouk.
