The Jesuit Church (Jesuitenkirche) The Christian Church on the banks of the Louis River and across the river from the City Hall was built in 1666-1673 in honor of St. Francis, one of the founders of the Jesuit Church. The altar in the church was decorated with red marble and completed in 1681. It is the first large Baroque religious building in Switzerland, with two arches of striking and representative decoration outside the church, which was rebuilt in the mid-18th century
