Jingshan Park Review

Jingshan Park is located in Jingshanqian Street of Xicheng District of Beijing. It faces Beihai Park in the west. It faces Shenwumen of the Forbidden City in the south. It is the imperial garden of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is located on the central axis of Beijing City. Jingshan in the center of the park is 42.6 meters high with an elevation of 88.35 meters. It used to be the commanding point of the whole city. It can overlook the whole city from the top of the mountain. In the three generations of Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, Jingshan and its adjacent buildings are not only a royal garden for tourists, but also have multiple functions such as custom shooting, ceasefire, ancestor worship, official study, farming, opera and religion. The lush pines and cypresses in the garden and the knitting of tourists are the unique features of the imperial city of Beijing. This is a small hill in Yuan Dynasty, named "Qingshan". According to legend, when the Forbidden City was built in Ming Dynasty, coal was piled here, so it is commonly known as "Meishan". In Yongle period of Ming Dynasty, the soil of excavated moat was piled up here and built into a tall earth hill, called "Longevity Hill", also known as "Zhenshan" of Danei, and one of Jingshan was renamed in the early Qing Dynasty. The five pavilions on the hill were built during the reign of Qianlong. Among them, Wanchun Pavilion, located at the peak of Jingshan, is the highest and best scenic spot on the north-south axis of Beijing. You can see the splendid palace of the Forbidden City in the south, the bell and Drum Tower in the north axis and the White Pagoda in the North Sea in the west. At that time, the mountain jungle sheltered the sun, deer cranes in groups, full of vitality, very rich natural wild interest, planting flowers and plants, fruit trees, known as "back garden", the feudal emperors often come here to enjoy flowers, arrows, banquets, mountain climbing sightseeing, is a beautiful imperial garden. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, Li Zicheng's rebellious army invaded Beijing in March 1644. Emperor Zhu of Chongzhen fled to Jingshan, consciously deserving of his ancestors'foundation. He used his belt to do his best on the crooked-necked locust tree under Guanmiao Pavilion. During the ten-year turmoil, the old locust tree was cut down as "Four Old". In 1981, an ancient locust tree was newly transplanted at its original site. In 1996, an ancient locust tree with more than 150 years of age replaced the one transplanted in 1981. Pagoda tree. During the Gengzi Incident in Guangxu 26 (1900), the eight-nation coalition forces (Britain, the United States, France, Russia, Germany, Japan, Italy and Austria) occupied Beijing.
