The Charlie Church is located in the south of Vienna City, on the south side of Karl Square, 200 meters away from the Ring Road, and has a blue Romanesque rounded vault of 72 meters. In 1713, the Holy Roman Emperor Carl VI declared that if the terrible plague could stop, he would build a church. Later, when the plague ended, he fulfilled his promise and ordered the magnificent Baroque Charlie Church to be built. Since the restoration of the overall effect in Karl Square in late 1980, Charlie Church has gained worldwide attention for its dome and bas-relief columns on both sides, and has been architecturally balanced with the Golden Hall and the Technical University of Vienna. Known as the most impressive baroque church building north of the Alps, its oval dome and bas-relief columns attract pedestrians.
