Ancient Kourion Review

The ancient ruins of Curion are located on the mountainous land of the Limassol coastal area on the southwest coast of Cyprus. It was first developed as a colony after the Greek Achaean invasion of Cyprus in the 14th century BC. During the Roman Empire, development reached its peak. The fourth century was devastated by a severe earthquake. In the seventh century, the Arabs invaded Cyprus and gradually fell into ruins. Main attractions are: the site of the Eustorius House, built between the 4th and 5th centuries, visitors can enjoy the mosaic-insulated bathing ground; the ancient Roman amphitheater, built in the 2nd century BC.

We then drove an hour to Kourion, an archaeological site in Courion, 19 km west of Limassol, one of Cyprus’ most famous and distinctive archaeological sites. The main attraction here is the ancient Roman amphitheater that can accommodate 2,000 people.
