La Fortaleza Review

The San Juan fortress was built by a Spanish military engineering team in 1589. The Central American archipelago of San Juan was first occupied by Spain in 1521 and a castle was built on a small island at the entrance to the Gulf. It is a major Spanish base in the Americas.

San Juan was once a Spanish dependency, and since it was an important economic and strategic position in the Caribbean throat, Puerto Rico was bought by the United States. These two fortresses have now become popular tourist attractions.

There are many places worth remembering and discovering in the old city of San Juan. The cobblestone trail extends between many old Spanish-style buildings.
