We stayed at the Capital Tower Hotel near Lake Griffin. We could walk to Lake Griffin or take the Federal Avenue across Lake Griffin. Lake Burley Griffin is the center of downtown Canberra, with several bridges connecting the two sides. It is said that there is a fountain built to commemorate Captain Cook in the lake. The water column from the bottom of the lake is 137 meters high. Standing anywhere in the city, you can see the huge white water column piercing the blue sky. It is very spectacular. Unfortunately, the time spent in Canberra is too short to appreciate the spectacular scenery of the fountain. The weather is not good. It is always cloudy during the Australian National Day. Several times, not especially to this fountain, perhaps that day is National Day without water.
