The Latin Bridge is one of the key attractions in Sarajevo. It was the scene of the Sarajevo incident where the heirs of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Grand Duke Franz Ferdinand, were killed by Gabrielo Principe. In 1914, on the north side of the bridge, the Grand Duke and his wife were assassinated, which became the trigger for World War I. The bridge was renamed the Principe Bridge, which was restored to the Latin Bridge after the dissolution of Yugoslavia.
