Originally a minority in the mountains of Myanmar, the long-necked people migrated to northern Taipei to escape the war. Become a stateless refugee. Local women believe that brass rings around the neck are a symbol of beauty and wealth, so from the age of 10, they wear a brass ring weighing 1 kg every year until they grow up. Their neck length is no different from that of ordinary people, but their clavicles and shoulder bones are compressed and sagged by wearing heavy copper rings all the year round, so they look very long. It can be said that the long neck is a kind of morbid, incomplete beauty. Because of their fantastic decoration, they attract many novelty-seeking tourists. Nowadays, visiting Long-necked Village has become a business. Long-necked Village is surrounded and tickets are collected from tourists. But at the same time, most of the long-necked people live in poverty. Their only source of income is tickets for tourists to visit villages and scarves they knit. Although they can attract tourists with long necks, they can not change their embarrassed fate.
