Santa Ana Catholic Church, located at the foot of the mountain in Penang Province, is a world-famous church. Built in 1888, founded by French Catholic missionary FATHER F.P SORIN and named after Santa Ana, the mother of Virgin Mary. The old church at the top of the hill was originally decorated with three giant stained glass windows with Santa Ana, but was destroyed during the Japanese occupation and now only one complete glass window is left. The communist army was active in 1948, and the old church was declared off limits, and the new church was built 2 km away in 1957, but the old church remains the focus of the church. Today, the old and new churches of Santa Ana, which are majority Chinese and Indian, are daily prayers and worships, and have become a gathering place for local Catholics and festivals. The 9-day annual event at the end of July is Santa Ana Church, where thousands of churchgoers from both home and abroad come to pray for the pilgrimage. At the end of the midnight, thousands of churchgoers pray by candlelight around the old and new churches, creating a spectacular and harmonious night view. The event attracted many tourists to see this rare event.
