Opened in November 2012, the Maya Museum was designed by Mexican architect Alberto García Lascurain for six years and $15 million. This modern white building seems perfectly located in the heart of Cancun’s bustling hotel district. But its sleek exterior obscures the museum's 55,000 square feet of property, which also includes the archaeological site of San Miguelto, an oasis of calm shrouded in trees and contains the fact that about 40 Mayan buildings (including a 26-foot pyramid).
