Napoleon's coffin was moved to the top of the dome of the Invalides Church on April 2, 1861, and placed on the first floor of the church, where visitors look up from the ring corridor on the second floor. There are also mausoleums of other Napoleon's relatives and other generals. Napoleon's coffin was made of red quartz rock and placed on a green granite base. The surrounding walls were engraved with 12 relief paintings of the goddess of victory, each representing a glorious battle.
