Well organized and reasonably priced museums give you an insight into historical life. The location is a bit far from the city centre but well worth a visit, especially when you see some of the lesser known city's historic streets. Helpful guides are available in multiple languages. A good priced cafe/bar, worth a visit.

Bolivia has two capitals: La Paz, the seat of the government and parliament, with a population of 940,000, about 3,640 meters above sea level, and Sucre, the seat of the Supreme Court (the statutory capital), with a population of 360,000, at 2,810 meters above sea level. In 1825, Bolivia became the capital of Chuquisaka, and the name was changed to Sucre. In 1898, the Bolivian government and parliament moved to La Paz to higher altitudes.
