The Old Town of Mdina was first built in the 8th century BC and is nearly 3,000 years old. It was once Malta's capital city state for a thousand years, until Valletta rose, gradually declined and abandoned. Since it has been occupied and renovated by Phoenicians, Arabs and Romans, the architectural style here is very exotic, if not the occasional restaurant and car, really forget that you have been far away from the medieval smoke dispute.
