The law courts stand at the southwestern corner of Poelaertplain Square and is clearly one of symbols and nerve centers of power in Belgium. This massive, somber looking building is guarded by armed and uniformed soldiers and surrounded by streets named for famous battles and monuments honoring Belgian dead from the Great War.
