The Penang Art Museum has two floors in total, the area is small, the tickets are super cheap, it should be just a symbolic charge, the interior is the decoration style of Nyonya, the air-conditioning is super enough, that is, it is not to visit, and it is worth enjoying the air-conditioning.

The museum is very distinctive, the architecture is particularly beautiful, and the history is long. The museum is very comprehensive to show us the history of the city, which is very necessary for understanding the city.

Best value for 1 ringgit!I very nearly passed on this one but so glad I didn’t. It shows the cultural diversity & history of Penang in fascinating room displays with clear explanations, not great long essays! There are few objects but they are beautifully displayed and it wouldn’t take long to rush round if you are on a tight schedule. That would be a shame, as the building (former King Edward VII Hospital) is worth enjoying for the cool breezes filtering through. There was a temporary Art Exhibition when I was there with some fascinating works. Oh, and the best bit? The beautiful free fans available next to the visitors book.

The Penang State Museum and Art Gallery houses various works of art from 1965 to the latest. This art museum was originally located in Lebuh Farguhar before being moved to Dewan Sri Pinang in 1994. There are two parts of the gallery in this museum which is the permanent gallery located on the 3rd floor and the contemporary art gallery (temporary) on the ground floor of Dewan Sri Pinang. The permanent gallery or exhibition houses various types of collections that include works of painting, sculpture, printing, photography, architecture, design art, shows, films, ceramics and many more.

The Penang Art Museum will close in November 2017, and the temporary museum is located at 57 Makalist Road, itself a hospital building, and there are currently no exhibits to display unless you are interested in the building’s history. Previous museums have introduced many people who come to Penang to live, such as Chinese, Indians, British and many others, and of course Malays.
