We visited the Interpretative Center while exploring the Newport Bay Preserve. It's housed in a beautiful, modern building with educational exhibits about the estuary ecosystem, including a short film and aquariums with representatives of the local residents. The docent who greeted us was friendly and helped us plan our visit to the preserve with maps and literature. They offer scheduled nature talks and activities as well. I enjoyed the artwork and scenic views. There are many trails in the area and an observation deck on the roof that overlooks the bay. The building is wheelchair accessible and there is a paved multi-use path that passes by (those who need wheelchair parking can park in the employee lot adjacent to the building). Note that the center is closed on Monday.
