The Pink Mosque (Masjid Putra), 30 kilometers away from Kuala Lumpur, is located on a lake in the center of Malaysia's new administrative center Putrajaya (official translation: Putrajaya), opposite the Prince Edward Bridge and on the right is the Prime Minister's residence. The Pink Mosque is the largest mosque in Malaysia and the largest floating mosque in Southeast Asia. Three-quarters of the main building of the mosque is built on the water. The exterior is pink, which is different from the general blue or green, so it is also called "water pink mosque". The Pink Mosque began to be constructed in 1997 and was completed in 1999. The exterior uses a large amount of rose marble and is beautiful in shape. It mainly consists of three parts: the prayer hall, the large minaret and the mausoleum. The prayer hall is tall and spacious, divided into upper and lower floors. The second floor is dedicated to 4,000 women, and the downstairs is used by 8,000 men. It can accommodate more than 10,000 people at the same time. Every Friday, the holy day of Islam, citizens flock to the temple, kneeling to pray, and some major religious ceremonies are also held here. The appearance of the roof of the hall looks like a large umbrella, composed of 49 large and small round arches. The largest circular arch is 45 meters in diameter and has 18 radiating starbursts, representing 13 states in the country and the five precepts of Islam. The shape of the spire of the Great Minaret resembles a rocket, meaning that Islam and science develop together and prosper together. The tower is 73 meters high, with elevators and stairs leading to the upper end. The mausoleum was built behind the mosque and connected to the mosque by a bridge. There is a sunshade dome on the mausoleum and there are six or seven tombs in the mausoleum. Only the "national heroes" of Islam can be buried here, that is, only the former prime minister of the country can be buried here, and the deputy prime minister who died while in office can also be buried here. Even the hooded robe for foreign ladies to visit here is also pink.
