Buenos Aires has a large ecological reserve just along the water in the main part of the city! It is incredible that this prime real estate has been preserved.

🌳 This ecological reserve (also known as Costanera Sur ecological reserve) covers an area of 350 hectares, which is the largest green space in Buenos Aires and one of the best places for residents to walk, ride, jog, hike or enjoy outdoor time for the whole family. ✅ In 1986, this protected area was added to the National Nature Park and Reserve List. ✅ Don't miss: enjoy the gorgeous scenery of kapok (also the national flower of Argentina) from different angles.

This is an excellent place for a walk in the city. There are well maintained paths and display boards with clear maps of the trails and examples of the animals that you might see. The large pools support water fowl and this enables a good range of birds to be observed. It was a hot day when we visited but there are plenty of trees to provide shade and places to sit and have a picnic.

I recommend riding a bike through the Reserva until you arrive at the Plata River (the Costanera, as it's called), where you can relax and have a picnic. Or once you've exited the Reserva, stop by a food truck for a choripan or bondiola, two of the most popular (and delicious) local sandwiches.

4/5Excellent
Join the ranks of locals running or biking here, specially during weekends. You can stop on the way to relax by the river or bird watching. Once you are done with your workout, indulge yourself with a choripan from Costanera. Hey, you deserve it!!
