Retiro is one of the best neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires. In the 17th century it hosted a monastery and later on the country home (retiro) of Spanish governor Agustin de Robles. In the area where nowadays one can find Plaza Libertador General San Martin there used to be a slave market, a military fortress and a corrida arena. Today, Retiro is a pleasant area to walk around.

Retiro is located in the center of Buenos Aires, with a collection of train stations, bus terminals, C line subways, and multiple bus stops, from which you can take a variety of different transportation to different locations, which is quite convenient.

The location of the park in central Madrid is like Central Park in the hearts of New Yorkers. The park has a botanical garden, a peacock garden, a rose garden, and a French botanical square! There is also the Crystal Palace in the middle, which is a palace all reached with glass, which is beautiful. Flowers are blooming in different seasons, and I personally love the charming aroma that Elderwood started in June. Overall, the park is simply the lungs of Madrid, so the most expensive rich area in the city center is right next to it. Everyone who comes to Madrid has time to come and visit!

Retiro is a very famous street town in Buenos Aires. There are no landmarks in this city that are worth visiting. The family came here last time. They all liked it, so they recommended it to me this time.

Great for long distance but terrible timing.

The Retiro train station in Buenos Aires was renovated and reopened in May 2017. It is a historic building dating from 1915. It was one of the world's largest train stations at the time and was quite disregarded. Now they renovated lighting, signalling cards and put new gastronomic premises, keeping the details and historic decoration.
