The Pearl Tower, located on the right of the peak of Tianma Mountain, was built in the second year of Yuanfeng in the Song Dynasty (1079 AD), and was built for the financing of Xu Wenjian, a squire of Hengshan at that time. The tower is seven-story octagonal, about18.8 meters high. During the Southern Song Dynasty, the five-color Buddhas and Lilis, which were given by General Zhou Wenda of the Southern Song Dynasty and Gao Zong of the Southern Song Dynasty, were hidden in the tower, which was rumored to shine at night, so it was called the "Jewelry Light Tower". Fifty-three years in Qing Qianlong (1788 AD), firecrackers were set off in the Yuanzhi Temple of Tianma Mountain, and Mars splashed the top of the tower, causing a fire, burning the tower heartwood, tower ladders, floors and towers, only the brick body was left. Later, people found Yuanfeng ancient coins in the brick seams, and the surrounding people took down the bricks for money. Eventually, the northwest corner of the bead tower gradually destroyed, forming a large hole about 2 meters in diameter, and the tower body gradually tilted. In 1982, the Shanghai Municipal Department of Cultural Management conducted a field survey of the tower, and found that the tower body has tilted 6°51'52" southeast, and the center displacement is up to 2.27 meters. Its tilt far exceeds the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, so the Pearl Tower also has the "first Leaning Tower in the world". The most amazing thing about the jewelry light tower is that since the tower body has produced such a large tilt, after more than two centuries of storms and earthquakes, it has remained oblique.
