The Southern Museum and Gallery are located next to Queen's Park, featuring historical objects and photographs of New Zealand's indigenous culture and war-era New Zealand soldiers. There is also a crocodile exhibition hall with rare dinosaur descendants. Admission is free.

The museum is not big, there are some exhibitions of native New Zealand culture, including some military aspects
