St. Stephen's Cathedral Review

The Stephansdom in Vienna is located in the center of Vienna. It consists of one main building and three towers. The conical South Tower, 138 meters high, is the most spectacular, and the blue and yellow tiles embedded in the roof are particularly dazzling. In 1000 A.D., King Stefan of Hungary converted to Christianity. At the beginning of the twelfth century, the Counts of the Garrison of Babenburg built a Roman-style chapel with square palaces. Two times later, King Otoka II of Bohemia ordered the rebuilding of a chapel with square palaces. The western facade of the chapel could see the architectural style of the time; and the beginning of the fourteenth century. At first, under the advocacy of the Habsburg royal family such as Duke Rudolph IV, the construction of the church began to be mainly Gothic; in the fifteenth century, the construction of the South Tower was completed; in the sixteenth century, the end of the North Tower was completed; and in the eighteenth century, the tower of Stefan Cathedral was completed. Apart from the Turkish soldiers in 1687 and Napoleon's army in 1809, the construction of Stefan Cathedral has been almost always under way. Stefan Cathedral was attacked by artillery fire during World War II. At that time, the roof of the cathedral, the copper bell, the pipe organ and most of the glass window paintings were destroyed. The post-war restoration began in 1948. Nine federal states in Austria were responsible for repairing one part of the cathedral. After ten years, the cathedral was restored to its original appearance and became a part of the sincere unity of the Austrian people. Good words.
