The Qing Dynasty was founded by Manmeng. The religious beliefs of the Qing Dynasty royal family include Buddhism, Taoism and shamanism, but mainly Tibetan Buddhism in the lama religion. Religion is a powerful political tool in the Qing government and Tibetan areas. There are 35 independent Buddhist halls in the Forbidden City. There are a large number of golden Buddha statues in Tibet.
