Wat Chedi Luang, also known as the Great Buddha Pagoda Temple, is the largest monastery in the ancient city of Chiang Mai. It is famous for a large Buddhist Pagoda with great visual impact. Founded in 1411, it is the most famous of the six major temples in Chiang Mai City. It is ranked as the most noble temple in Chiang Mai alongside the Paxin Temple. It is basically located in the center of the ancient city. The entrance is decorated with snakes and peacocks. There are huge Buddha statues inside. Behind the main hall is the magnificent quadrangular Buddhist pagoda, which was built in 1411.
