Our desk person at our hotel, the Plattenhof, suggested the Bauerschänke for a mid-priced authentic Swiss meal and urged us to order the Geschnetzeltes à la zurichoise, which she described as chopped up potatoes, a Zürich specialty. It turns out it was an order of $38 hash browns. To be sure, there were some veal slices but the majority of the meal was the potato roesti which, in the US are hash browns that you get for breakfast at any local diner for only a few dollars. It was a great disappointment to say the least. I would not consider $38 hash browns to be a mid-priced meal. Other than that, the restaurant was a decent airy place to eat.

    5/5Outstanding

I've tried a lot of shrimps coctails in my life. I found now the best one. I cant imagine that it can be even better somewhere. It's worth coming even just try it. Nevertheless there are other great dishes and the service is very professional and friendly. Reservation is essentional (it least on Thursday evening). Entrecote looks great as well- look for it under Fitnessteller. We missed it unfourtunately.

    4/5Excellent

I visited this restaurant with local Swiss friends one evening. The food is good, with a good selection of reasonably-priced wines. The restaurant isn't trying to be anything other than a regular Swiss restaurant, and it was packed out in the evening. You definitely need to reserve a table.

I enjoy eating here when in Zurich. The food is consistently reliable and the service unobtrusive and friendly.
