Our desk person at our hotel, the Plattenhof, suggested the Bauerschänke for a mid-priced authentic Swiss meal and urged us to order the Geschnetzeltes à la zurichoise, which she described as chopped up potatoes, a Zürich specialty. It turns out it was an order of $38 hash browns. To be sure, there were some veal slices but the majority of the meal was the potato roesti which, in the US are hash browns that you get for breakfast at any local diner for only a few dollars. It was a great disappointment to say the least. I would not consider $38 hash browns to be a mid-priced meal. Other than that, the restaurant was a decent airy place to eat.
