I seldom write food reviews except when I find the restaurant truly exceptional, like the most delicious meal of the entire trip. The noodles I had at Hon Kei was the most memorable food during my most recent trip to Penang. To appreciate Hon Kei, it helps to be an adventurous eater. Some people may find consuming animal innards unappetizing or even gross. If you belong to this group, you may not appreciate Hon Kei. I had a bowl of soupy noodles with all kinds of pig innards except for the brain and heart. In other words, my noodles included liver, intestines, kidney, minced pork and tripe. The noodles and innards were cooked to perfection and the soup was full of flavor. My bowl of goodie reminded me of Vietnamese Pho but orders of magnitude more tasty. The soup was not as clear as Pho but much more flavorful. My on regret was not ordering brain with the other innards. Next time!!! This food corner was very busy but the wait was pretty short and the environment quite comfortable because of the high ceiling and fans. It was also quite high tech with orders taken with a tablet and sent to the cooks and POS wirelessly. Surprisingly, the price of the food and drinks was very reasonable, if not on the inexpensive side. I highly recommend this food corner to the adventurous foodie. I cannot wait to eat here again when I return to Penang. Next time, I'll have ALL the innards. Yum.

A restaurant with a Guangdong flavor, strictly speaking, is Chaoshan flavor. The taste is very similar to what we ate when we went to Shantou. According to the boss, Chaoshan people account for a large proportion of the Chinese in Penang.

Hanji, an old store, this restaurant is not large in size, and the location is not particularly good. We found this store for a long time, the taste is OK, the boss is also hospitable.

Hanji Restaurant is a local Chinese-run food place, where you can taste the hot fish porridge, stuffy beef stew powder and the sugar water that Cantonese love. Since the environment is like the decoration of the 1970s, you can experience it.

Penang is an island city on the north west coast of Malaysia, with a large Chinese population. One of the highlights of visiting Penang is to taste local cuisine. When you arrive in Penang, you must eat Penang fried dumplings, which tastes different from other cities in Malaysia.

Ordered the normal pork noodles and the broth was so rich in pork taste. There is an option to not have the innards but I took the one with. Came with pork belly, brain, intestine tongue and other parts which some people may not like. The soup however is really the most porky taste I've tasted. Price wise slightly towards the high side.
