Although emigrated long time ago to London, I grew up in Apulia and eat tons of Salento food over the years hence I assume to know a bit about the taste and flavours of the area which is at the very bottom of the heel of the boot. I went there two times to have a more thorough sampling of the food. The ambiance is simple and country like, the service is attentive and in line with the decor. The menu is full of traditional dishes cooked well. The melanzane alla parmiggiana are very good and the plateau of charcuterie presents a selection of locally cured pork which is interesting. They have as primo piatto chickpeas with a local hand made pasta called "trie" which is good even if they shy from using rosemary which the orthodox Salento recipe imposes. They also have a broad bean puree with al local bitter vegetable named "cicoria" which represent the rural end of the local cuisine and it is not to be missed. The mains are very interesting: octopus stew is very very good, small meat loafs stuff end with ham and cheese and than fried in bred crumbs are delicious while the horse meat in tomato stew is done very well. The bread served with the meal is of particularly goo quality as well the wine list encompass a solid selection of local wines which includes some very solid reds. The restaurant claims that all ingredients are sourced in the Salento region (including the flour for the bread) and from the taste and aroma I would say that the statement is truthful. The price is decent considering that we are in the centre of Milan. Should any foreigner who has spent some holidays in Salento and would like a reminiscence of the flavours once tasted this is the place where to go in Milan.

    5/5Outstanding

This Ristorante offers an excellent atmosphere and top quality food for a good price. Their chef, Leo, made the most amazing eggplant parmesan that I have had in a very long time. I talked to the man and he was very happy to explain how he cooked it. Overall the food was good, but if you're in the neighborhood pop in and get the eggplant! It is worth going out of your way for.

    4/5Excellent

We had just one primi each, plus vegetables -- this was plenty, and the dishes were very good (eggplant parmesan and orecchiete with tomato sauce). We had glasses of the house white wine, plus tea -- this came to almost 60 Euros. Pretty expensive, but the food tasted great and the restaurant design is very pleasing, right down to the plates and cutlery. There are a lot of options on this block, and we look forward to trying some of the others on future visits, but we were not disappointed with this choice.
