Address: Great Geysir, South Iceland, Iceland

What people are saying:

With an easy 1.5 hour trip from Reykjavik, you can see this geyser in all its glory. I recommend a combination tour that takes you to the geyser as well as other local attractions. you may even be informed when you cross a tectonic plate. Iceland is really spectacular and well worth exploring at most any time of year. That said, dress for the weather and do your research!

It is nice geothermal field and seeing the explosion of the Strokkur is amazing. However, even during the pandemic this was the place where we met the most people. There were around 15-20 people that...

Sad that the Gesyr itself is not active anymore like it used to.

The park around the Geysir is beautiful and very impressive. Too bad the actual Geysir itself is not working anymore as it used to because people threw rocks and trash in it to try to activate the Ge...

Additional Information

Introduction

Great Geysir, in Icelandic means burst spring. The Great Geysir is a round pool. The spring in the center of the pool is a "cave". The temperature inside the "cave" is higher than 100 degrees centigrade. Every time the spring erupts, only the sound of the rumbling in the hole can be heard, and the sound gradually becomes louder and louder, and the boiling water also surges until it rushes out of the hole and sprays into the sky, turning from the middle water column to the steam rushing to the sky. And then it turns into drops of water, which is very spectacular.
