This aqueduct is the main landmark for the Lapa area of Rio. This area is an amazing street party location often filled with the music of bands and/or drums. There is a trolly line that goes from Santa Teresa down to Lapa and goes right across the top of the aqueduct. You can get off on the stop right before the trolly goes over.
The Lapa area in Rio has many clubs playing Jazz, Samba and Bossa Nova. Great place to spend the evening.
This 42 arched aqueduct was begun in the late 17th century and was not finished until the mid 18th century. The aqueduct was designed to take water from the carioca river and bring it to the neighborhoods, but now it is the Rio tram taking people from the downtown to Lapa and then on to St. Teresa.
Nice place for dancing the samba. From 10 to 99 years old. Top fun And very good ambiance
