Great beach. It's a public beach. It's only 2 - 3 minutes'walk from the hotel. Dawn Ipanema Beach, mostly local dog walking, running, fitness, visitors seem to be only us. Near the street, a police car on duty stopped and the officers greeted us very friendly. The sea view is beautiful.
On the west side of the sea, there are two peaks, which have the meaning of "two brothers", while on the seaside, high-grade residential buildings are formed. There are football and volleyball from Brazil "footvolley", volleyball, football and so on, everywhere like "traditional Brazilian beer" (cachaca). In winter, the range of rough waves is 3 to 4.5 meters, and there are even many kinds of water colours under blue light. The area known as "Yineng" is a famous place. It is a friendly area for homosexuals. The sky has "rainbow flag". To the west, in the "oribon" (leblon) area inhabited by the wealthy, there is a famous sandy field called "postonove".
This beach is super beautiful, stretching coastline, clear water and waves. Every other section of the road, you will see vendors peddling drinks and delicacies. The beach sand is very fine, that is, the security feeling is not too good, Brazilians see foreigners coming, eyes will not leave the financial, so be sure to take care of their own things.
Great beach, almost always busy Every spot (posto) has it's own crowd, Teenagers, Families, Gay, etc. At Arpoador they put on the lights when the sun is down so the surfers still can surf ) Arpoador rock formation is a beautiful place to overlook the sea and is a romantic destination for the young & older crowd )By the way great news: There is Free Wifi on all beaches (Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon) it's called "Orla Digital" no password needed though once and a while the signal drops (even when you drive in a cab near the beach you often can log in )))
Ipanema Beach isn't as wide either in sand or sidewalks as compared to Copacabana, but it makes up for it in being slightly more upscale. The surrounding neighborhood is a better living address that Copacabana, consequently the vibe is less frenetic than Copacabana, and with lesssketchy characters. The Antonio Carlos Jobim song sung by Jaoa and Astrud Gilberto in the 1960's, when the sexy Bosa Nova sound was just starting, made this beach famous around the world. And just like the song, a lot of the people here may be smiled at, but they just don't see it.
