Checking out towering dinosaur remains, witnessing the goose-bump inducing Maori Haka dance, discovering the inner workings of volcanoes, and visiting an armory complete with everything from Samurai swords to machine guns already sounds like a pretty full day; but that’s only scratching the surface of what New Zealand’s most important museum has on display. Permanent exhibits cover the People of the Pacific, the NZ war memorial, and exhibits on the country’s land and natural history. Temporary exhibits have featured everything from rugby to Egyptian Tombs, to the axe of Sir Edmund Hillary. The museum is located in the Auckland Domain. Admission is a $10 donation, unless you’re an Aucklander or happen to be there on ANZAC Day, in which case, your visit is free!
