Fengxue Temple is one of the four famous temples of Henan Province. Its reputation placed it alongside the temples of Baima, Shaolin and Xiangguo. They were called the Four Famous Temples of the Central Plains. Fengxue Temple was built during the Jin Dynasty, as a typical Jin Dynasty building, built on a brick platform, with eaves at an upward angle, as if taking wing. It's a relatively well preserved Jin Dynasty temple complex in Henan Province, with no iron nails used in the temple at all. Two major pagoda forests are distributed around the slopes around the Fengxue Temple, including the burial pagodas of monks from the Tang, Yuan, Ming, Qing, and modern era as well as more than 100 brick or stone pagodas.
