Located in the center of Golden Gate Park, the recently opened California Academy of Arts and Sciences is one of the city's gems. Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, the Academy's roof is made of grass and sculpted to look like the park's rolling hills had been lifted up and the Academy slipped underneath. Beneath the roof, the Academy houses a full-scale aquarium, a natural history museum and a planetarium. Great for kids, there is enough to see here for a full day.
One of the best museums - guaranteed fun!
The rainforest habitat was a nice exhibit as well as the aquarium. It took about an hour to complete the entire path with the family in tow.
World’s greenest museum with a planetarium, natural history museum, aquarium, scientific research program and 4 story living rain forest with 1.7 million native plant species.
I love aquariums and their setup with different reefs of the world and the fish you can find in them was genius! Also visit the planetarium and indoor rainforest. Not many guides or tours set up so expect to teach your kids yourself about the science and history.
Excellent science museum in the heart of Golden Gate Park.
